This is an incomplete list of common and not so common terms used at Philmont. For a more detailed description, follow the links.
- Bear bag This is a large canvas bag used to protect food and other smallables from animals at Philmont. It is used in conjunction with a bear bag line.
- Oops bag A Bear bag that has been spcifically appropriated to be used for short term storage and personal smellables, such as medication or a first aid kit.
- Sump A generally permanent device used to dispose of liquid cooking or cleaning waste.It is used in conjunction with a sump frisbee.
Commissary.Located in several backcountry areas and also in bse camp, these may or may not also be campsites. They resupply treks with food, fuel ,and other consumables during the duration of their trek.
